Have you ever received a love letter? Or a gift from someone you love? You treasure it, think about it, and look back to it often. Is it because the letter or gift have something magical about them? No. You love it because it is a reminder of that person you love and the relationship you have with them. This is our Bible. 

One of the biggest issues confronting the American church today is Bible illiteracy. Not only do many people not read the Bible, but many who do read it don’t actually understand how to read it the way it’s meant to be read. Oftentimes, we will read our own thoughts, prejudices, and traditions into the Bible instead of allowing scripture to speak for itself.

Let’s be wise and treat the treasure as it should be! In this lesson, we will learn what the Bible actually is and how we can approach it.
